Celebrated Australian artist Rone takes centre stage at Chadstone’s Light to Night festival with his first major exhibition in three years.

Known for his large-scale installations created within abandoned and forgotten buildings, Rone combines portraiture, interiors, sound and atmosphere to create emotionally charged environments that blur the line between art, reality and storytelling.

This immersive exhibition reconstructs a Chadstone shopfront as a familiar yet disquieting Australian weatherboard house. Visitors step inside a space that feels at once intimate and nostalgic, where materially rich, time-worn interiors sit in contrast to the controlled architecture of the centre.

This deliberate friction sharpens Rone’s enduring fascination with the interplay of beauty and decay, impermanence and human connection, inviting moments of quiet reflection within an unexpected setting.

HOME is experienced as a 20-minute walk-through, allowing audiences to fully absorb the detail, mood and emotion of the space at a considered pace. Please note the exhibition includes immersive sound elements, including some louder moments throughout.

This is a free event. Bookings are strongly encouraged, with limited walk-up access available on the day, subject to availability.

DO I NEED TO BOOK?

Bookings are strongly encouraged, with limited walk-up access available on the day, subject to availability.

WHERE IS THE EXHIBITION LOCATED?

The exhibition is located on Ground Level, next to Mecca.

WHAT AGES IS THIS SUITABLE FOR?

The experience is suitable to all ages.

All children under 16 years attending the activity must be accompanied by a guardian or parent.

DO I NEED TO BOOK FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN?

Yes, all individuals attending the exhibition must have a booking.

WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE?

Please arrive 5 minutes prior to your confirmed booking time and have a digital version of your ticket ready for check in.

If you arrive earlier, feel free to pick up a coffee from one of the surrounding cafes, while you wait for your time slot.

We recommend planning additional time to secure a car park and navigate through the centre.

CAN I TOUCH THE PROPS AND ARTWORK?

No, please do not touch any of the props, equipment or artwork inside the exhibition. The items are fragile and should not be touched.

Some props appear aged, weathered, rough or industrial in nature. For your safety, you must keep a safe distance from all props, surfaces and structures at all times.

CAN I TAKE PHOTOS?

Yes, we'd love you to capture photos of the space for personal use. No commercial photography can take place inside the exhibition.

CAN I BRING IN A TRIPOD?

No tripods can be taken into the exhibition.

WHAT IF I WANT TO CANCEL OR CHANGE MY BOOKING?

If you need to cancel your booking, please contact us at [email protected].

If you need to change the date or time of your experience, you will need to make a new booking based on your preferred option from the remaining available slots. Once this has been completed, please contact us at [email protected] and a member of our friendly team will be able to cancel your original booking.

I AM LATE AND MISSED MY SESSION – CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE?

We will do our best to accommodate late arrivals, although you may need to wait for the next available session. Please speak to one of our friendly staff on arrival and they'll do their best to accommodate you.

You should receive a booking confirmation email with links to download tickets.

When booking for this activity or filling in the digital or virtual queue form, you will be invited to join Chadstone First if you’re not already a member. You must be 16+ to book or fill in the digital or virtual queue form. All children under 16 years attending the activity must be accompanied and supervised by a guardian or parent. Booking only available via chadstone.com.au. Limited availability sessions from 11 June to 12 July during centre trading hours, unless otherwise extended or varied by Vicinity. Each ticket to the activity entitles an individual to a timed entry session of approximately 20 minutes, subject to operational requirements. Maximum two bookings permitted per email address.
