The Bag

Our favourite bags from the new season are distinctly different, but they all have one thing in common: they’re instant icons. The Medallion bag is a future-classic shape from Dior’s new creative director Jonathan Anderson. Fendi has reworked their beloved Baguette bag with delicate hand-embroidery. Louis Vuitton’s new ‘All-In’ style blends house codes with a fresh new silhouette. Miu Miu’s proclivity for craft comes courtesy of a sweet raffia-style day bag; and Versace brings a touch of glamour to the traditional bucket bag in vibrant pink suede.

The Shoe

When it comes to summer shoes, good looks trump practicality every time. Thankfully, this season you don’t have to choose. Celine and Chanel are offering deliciously elevated takes on the flip-flop, one in jelly, the other in sleek leather. Ferragamo are playing with the wedged heel shape, adding Milanese elegance with a pointed toe and gold finish. Jimmy Choo are also head over heels for the jelly sandal trend, though their take features a translucent finish and added height. While over at Gucci, the Vittoria Pump is the first It-shoe from incumbent creative director Demna, bringing a touch of ‘90s glamor to your favourite summer ensemble.

The Bling

There’s a decidedly maximalist feel to jewellery this season. Bottega Veneta are embracing all things maritime with their chunky cocktail ring, inspired by sea coral. Bvlgari’s signature Serpenti earrings are our preferred take on European-inspired summer glamour, though we also love the unapologetic femininity of Prada’s crystal-embellished floral studs. Looking for a keep-forever investment? Cartier’s Juste un Clou looks even better when encrusted with diamonds. And Tiffany & Co.’s new signature style, the Sixteen Stone, blends hardware with yellow gold and a string of diamonds.

Ring crafted in 18k gold-finished sterling silver with hand-enameled sea coral forms.
Bvlgari Serpenti Viper Earrings in Yellow Gold

Bvlgari | $5,800

With Juste un Clou, Cartier enhances the design of a basic shape by transforming a simple nail into a piece of jewellery. Designed for Cartier New York in the 1970s, this Cartier design icon combines pure lines, precise form, accurate proportions and precious details.

Cartier | $11,600

Narrow Pendant in Yellow Gold & Platinum with Diamonds

Tiffany & Co. | $10,800

The Finishing Touch

The final layer makes the outfit. Silk scarves are enjoying a comeback this season – Burberry’s rose-check scarf can be worn around the neck or looped onto bags while Hermès’ Twilly is designed to be worn in the hair. For something more substantial, Saint Laurent’s ‘Oval’ belt looks great with denim cut-offs and a slick black one-piece. While on the hat front, reach for bold raffia shapes from Loewe or Dolce&Gabbana.
