From rugby-style knits to sleek summer sets, we round up the five must-know trends in menswear this season.
There’s something about Australian summer and men’s fashion that just clicks. It’s the season of beach-filled days and long evenings, of breezy linen separates, statement-making accents and elevated accessories. For this Spring Summer season, it’s all about taking classic summer staples and elevating them. The trusted sandal gets a decidedly sharp upgrade thanks to minimal leather iterations from the likes of Rodd + Gunn and Unison, the button-down shirt is reworked in eye-grabbing prints, the traditional chino is replaced with a flattering wide-leg pant. Here, we round-up the five key trends for Spring Summer 25, with a curated edit of the best new-season pieces from our Chadstone retailers, so you can soak up the rays in style.
This season, the fashion world is obsessed with all things rugby. Oversized, rugby-inspired knits will be your go-to in warm weather outerwear. Have fun with unexpected colour combinations, like R.M. Williams’ navy and oxblood, or GANTS’s pink iteration, then style with a wide-leg trouser in a muted shade of tan or beige (see our edit below) and a simple leather sandal (ditto).

Looking for a weekend uniform that is low maintenance while still looking polished? The summer set is a perennial favourite for a reason. This season, we love sets made with breezy linens and cottons, in a minimal colour palette of eggshell, cream or beige. Seed and Industrie are offering striped iterations, while Uniqlo and Lululemon’s long-sleeved and pant takes are perfect trans-seasonal investments. Just add a boat shoe or bright white sneaker and a killer pair of shades.
The best dressers know that the right pair of shoes will make or break an outfit. In the warmer months, investing in a quality leather sandal is a non-negotiable. This season, it’s all about minimal sandal styles in black leather. Rodd + Gunn are championing the humble flip flop (albeit in an elevated brown leather finish), while Zara’s take is a twist on the classic Grecian sandal. Why not grab a couple?

For the last few years, menswear has been dominated by slimmer-style trousers: fitted chinos and tapered pants. For Spring Summer 25, it’s all about the wider leg. Be it Zara’s iteration, a pleated wide-leg trouser in taupe, or Cos’, crafted from cotton with a brushing-the-ground hemline. At Industrie, the ‘Cambridge’ pant takes the wide-leg to exaggerated proportions, while the ‘Trawler’ pant from Incu is a stylish update on the traditional chino. Add your favourite shirt: a crisp white tee or a fitted polo and you’re good to go.
The Hawaiian shirt may be a tad kitsch, but its cousin – the statement-making summer button down – is having a serious moment this season. Abstract florals come courtesy of MJ Bale, Country Road and Calibre, while Orlebar Brown’s take is more crafty, with delicate red linen embroidery. Let the shirt do all the talking by reaching for a neutral-toned short or trouser and a minimal shoe, like a brown leather loafer or sandal.
