The Spring Racing Beauty Edit

The Spring Racing season is upon us and so are the new beauty trends dominating the field.

Get prepared for one of beauty's biggest moments with Ross Andrewartha, Official Beauty Insider, as he shows us his go-to looks for each major race day.

CAULFIELD CUP

"Who said Spring had to be all bright pinks and pastels? It's a perfect occasion for a nude lip. Use a lip pencil (all over), then add a beautiful shine lipstick that’s creamy enough to stop your lips from drying out in the warmer months. This will ensure you have the perfect pout that lasts until after the final race!"

COX PLATE

"Get amongst a fun coral colour for this relaxed race day! Go for a dewy and fresh makeup look that is more feminine and soft on the face. Don’t go too crazy on the contouring, but amp up your highlighting game to give yourself that radiant glow.

Concentrate on highlighting areas like the under eye area, the brow bone, cheekbone, cupid’s bow and if you’re exposing your neck area don’t forget to add some highlighting onto your décolletage."

DERBY DAY

"If you’re going to commit to a bold lip, traditional for Derby Day, then you really have to commit!

Step away from a classic red lip with this look and go the distance with a sultry maroon. Sitting trackside with friends and sipping on champagne means it’s unlikely you can avoid touch-ups, but you can limit them by choosing the right long wear lipstick."

MELBOURNE CUP

"For Melbourne Cup, you play with so much colour in your outfit, keep your makeup fresh and flawless. For soft gloss and glowing skin, go for a naturally radiant look.

It’s essential that your skin sparkles just as much as your head piece. Choose a foundation that gives you radiance but also sets into the skin. With the right prep, it shouldn’t take much upkeep throughout the day."

OAKS DAY

"Oaks day is primetime for pretty pastels and more pastels! This year’s trends focus on monochromatic makeup and there's no better day to invite these soft, cool tones into your look – pretty lips and cheeks are a must for this race day.

The runways from recent fashion weeks suggests "draping" blush up towards the tops of the ears, rather than focusing on the apples of the cheeks. This will give a more youthful appearance."

STAKES DAY

"Metallic lids are having a moment this race season.

Eyes are a great way to partake in this trend which is versatile and can be played up or down depending on which colours you use. I love using metallic eye shadow as the jewel to your eye make-up (just in the centre of your lid). This is great way to add light to your face and to ensure your eyes glisten all day long."
