What’s an essential piece for the season from M.J.Bale?
A favourite of mine is the Spezieria tie.
Tell us one item to splurge on this season?
I’d say the Harvey Jacket in the Kingston Collection. It’s a slim fit jacket in our finest Marino Wool. The wool is sourced from Kingston farm in Tasmania, hence the name. It’s our most sustainably sourced collection.
What’s one clothing item you just can’t live without?
My M.J Bale Parlour White Shirt. Wardrobe staple.
Tell us your favourite styling tip for men’s suiting?
Get your clothing properly altered or tailored to your dimensions so that it fits you just as you want.
Top 5 items at M.J Bale?
- Kingston Collection – the Harvey Jacket – 100% super fine wool, slim fit suit jacket.
- Buchanan Knits – made of Marino wool, super lightweight and easy to layer for winter.
- McQueen Chinos – a nice slim fit casual pant as an alternative to suit pants.
- Sherlock UIster Coat – this is a deep green colour overcoat. A must-have for this season.
- Luciano Jacket – a deep burgundy velvet jacket. The perfect jacket for both smart casual or cocktail styling. My favourite.
What’s your style when you’re not working?
For winter, I’m usually in a pair of black jeans with chestnut boots and a nice button down, paired with my grey cashmere scar and navy check overcoat from M.J Bale.
What’s one way to dress up any outfit?
It depends on the outfit. With suits, put your own mark on your outfit with colourful ties and pocket squares to show your personality. But when in doubt, white pocket squares are always a winner.
Can you wear brown shoes with a black suit?
No! Unless you want to stand out for the wrong reasons. Always black on black. Dark navy suits you can go black or brown. Lighter blue suits and brown is always better for a cleaner, classier look.
What is your favourite person you follow on Instagram for style inspiration / who inspires your style?
@gaetanoaloisioofficial - he's a luxury bespoke tailor known for his classic Italian approach to tailoring. I really admire his style.
What is the best thing about working at Chadstone – The Fashion Capital?
