For Ferragamo’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection, Maximilian Davis returns to the 1920s, reconsidering its eclecticism through his exacting perspective, alongside exploring the period when the house itself was founded.

Excavated from the Ferragamo archive, a 1925 image of silent screen star Lola Todd dressed head-to-toe in leopard first prompted an exploration of the exotic prints and textures that characterised the “Africana” movement of the jazz age. “I was interested in how certain materials, prints and textiles were imported from across Africa and the Caribbean into America and Europe to become a sign of status,” reflects Davis – and now, distilled into silk satin devoré animal prints, plongé leather jewellery and fringed embellishments, the Roaring Twenties is refigured.

The liberated elegance of the era is equally spotlit: speakeasy suiting and straight-cut slips inset with lace cut-outs; dresses with dropped waists and low-slung backs. “This was a moment where women were creating a new femininity – it was a celebration of freedom, a reclaiming of self,” explains Davis. “It was a period when people were creating spaces for themselves and rebelling against societal norms – and that spirit translated into people’s wardrobes.” Harlem Renaissance zoot suits and louche, expressive dandyism colour the spirit of menswear, while the ties worn by men are reappropriated into scarf sashes that wrap tuxedo waists, or are panelled into patchwork dresses.

Elsewhere, the graphicism and colour-blocking of the era’s illustrations appears reflected through saturated patent leathers with Gancini fastenings and fine-gauge knits; the placement of silk crepon florals re-appropriated from the positioning in archival imagery.

In footwear, the sculptural “S” heel offers a new iteration of the “F” style of previous seasons. A caged leather pump presents an evolution of an archival style, the Kimo, while Gancini chains encircle the ankles of fetishistic pointed toe pumps with low-cut vamps. Boudoir mules are rendered in satin and appear embroidered with blooming beadwork, while the straps of stilettoes wrap around the foot, covering it in satin bows. Inspired by a shoe from the archives, a men’s derby is reinterpreted and elongated for modern elegance, while polished leather slippers and sandals offer insouciant ease.

For accessories, the iconic Hug bag appears in new animations and materials – in patent and woven leathers, stamped croc and nubuck suede – alongside the folded foulard-inspired bag in the colours and prints of the season, with detachable Gancini hardware. An elegant wrist bag, adapted from the archives, is decorated with a golden Gancini clasp, while feathers explode across another, and appear fringing the edges of the Soft bag. For men, craftsmanship is celebrated through woven leather panels that appear across the Hug and Sailor bags.
