Louis Vuitton Renews its Promise to Children with the Launch of Silver Lockit Color

September 2017 – Louis Vuitton launches a new version of its Silver Lockit with colorbracelets in effort to continue raising awareness and funds for Syrian children facing the world’s most challenging humanitarian crisis.

The conflict in Syria is in its seventh year and has become the largest humanitarian and displacement crisis in the world since World War II. Within Syria, nearly 6 millionchildren are in need of assistance whilst over 2.5 million live as refugees across Syria’s borders. Without the support of partners likes Louis Vuitton and its clients to UNICEF, some critical and lifesaving activities are at a serious risk being cut off, with serious consequences for Syrian children and host communities. UNICEF’s support to children includes: providing safe water and sanitation services, healthcare and essential nutrition, cash assistance to families and the distribution of clothes and blankets during the winter months.

By purchasing Silver Lockit Color, clients will contribute critical funding to UNICEFsupported programmes for over 9 million children inside Syria and neighbouring countries. The Silver Lockit Color renews Louis Vuitton’s promise to support UNICEF and help raise funds for children in dire need. Since 2016, when Louis Vuitton first launched the Silver Lockit, $200 has been donated to UNICEF for each piece sold. The LOUIS VUITTON for UNICEF partnership has raised more than $2.5m to help bring life-saving humanitarian support to children and families affected by the Syrian crisis. In doing so, the partnership has helped bring hope to children who have endured the horrors of war and deprivation.

The Silver Lockit, inspired by the unpickable tumbler lock invented by Georges Vuitton in 1890 to protect clients’ most precious belongings, is a symbol of protection. It also seals one’s promise to help children in urgent need. The sterling silver tumbler lock, becomes available with five different color cord bracelets to choose from (yellow, purple, pink, cyan and black). The Silver Lockit Color is sold for $250, of which $100 is donated to UNICEF for each piece sold.

The launch starts on September 14th on louisvuitton.com and in over 200 Louis Vuitton stores worldwide on September 15th. UNICEF is the leading humanitarian and development organization working globally for the rights of every child. The aim of the partnership “LOUIS VUITTON for UNICEF” is to raise funds for UNICEF and help support children that are exposed to conflict, diseases, natural disasters and other situations that threaten their safety and well-being. UNICEF has appealed for US$ 1.4 billion for its emergency operations in 2017 inside Syria and in neighboring Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Iraq and Egypt. To date, UNICEF has received less than 25 per cent of its funding requirements.

LOUIS VUITTON makes a promise to continue helping these children.
