Sam was the heart of the Carlton Football Club during his 171-game career. Sam grew up with dreams of playing for his beloved Carlton, a dream that finally came true in 2012 after a short stint at Brisbane.

Despite injuries blighting his career, he refused to let his injuries and illness define him and always looked for a silver lining.
