While winter draws to a close, there’s always time to settle in with a comforting bowl. From steaming Hakata-style ramen and fragrant seafood laksa to slightly spicy, deeply savoury dry noodles, Chadstone has plenty to turn to when you’re craving a comforting bowl.

Hakata-Style Ramen

One of Japan’s best-known ramen chains, Ippudo is a classic for a reason. Known for Hakata-style ramen, its bowls pair thin, straight noodles with milky-rich pork bone (tonkotsu) broth. Start with the Shiromaru Motoaji, with its original base topped with tender pork belly (chashu) and finely sliced toppings, or amp it up with the Akamaru Shinaji for a bolder hit of spicy miso.

Fragrant Thai Noodles

Boat noodles (kuaitiao ruea) are a Thai staple, traditionally sold from boats along Bangkok’s canals, known for their rich, savoury broth. Get a taste at Thai Social, where fresh, thin rice noodles come with tender beef or pork and finished off with crispy garlic and Thai basil. For something richer, try Khao Soi, a Northern Thai curry noodle dish with a fragrant soup, chewy wide egg noodles and tangy pickled greens – choose from crispy chicken, grilled marbled beef or duck as your protein.

Quick and Nourishing Lunch

For a quick and easy lunch, opt for Fishbowl’s Winter Warmer Street Box bowls. Each comes over warm sushi rice with house shoyu and sesame seeds, with flavours ranging from Coconut Chicken to Five Spice Beef. For a meat-free option, Miso-Glazed Eggplant and Tofu brings lightly torched eggplant with a savoury miso glaze. There’s also a soothing Miso Broth, served in a cup to sip alongside.

Spicy Malaysian Favourites

Lulu’s Malaysian Hawker brings the heat with its Seafood Curry Laksa, a fragrant bowl of mixed noodles with cuttlefish, mussels and prawns plus a generous scoop of chill sambal. It’s hard to go past the renowned Char Kway Teow too – slightly spicy and deeply savoury, tossed with smoky wok-Hei, prawns, Chinese sausage and crisp, rich pork fat. And while you’re keeping warm, cool things down with a drink with Cham, a coffee blended tea or the Iced Lychee Ribena, a sweet, refreshing pick alongside the spice.
