Debuted with the Balenciaga Winter 26 Collection, ClairObscur, the Hourglass Avenue Bag iterates on an iconic House silhouette, the Basque Waist, or Hourglass. Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli’s twist on a classically utilitarian top handle bag imbues it with a curvilinear base, echoing the cinch of a fitted bodice, as seen in early Balenciaga Couture designs.

The Hourglass Avenue Bag’s distinctive shape is both firm and relaxed, with a hidden second handle for easier carry when in full use. A detachable crossbody strap adds a dimension of versatility and pragmatism. A folding top flap is secured with a lock closure: two minimalist metal bars with a simple engraving—Balenciaga 10 Avenue George V, the historic address of Cristóbal Balenciaga’s Paris ateliers, and the House’s headquarters today.
